fixrechnung.atI'm Robert, in the trade since 2002 — though it really started much earlier: my father ran a print shop, and I was already standing in it during the analog days. I got my first Mac in 1992. Years in offset printing followed, then years in prepress, and eventually back to design — always the same coin, just seen from a different side.
Every department in a print shop has an affectionate contempt for the one next door. On the press floor, any mistake got blamed reflexively on prepress — the plates must have been made wrong. When I moved into prepress myself, the picture flipped: I suddenly understood both sides and saw the problems much more clearly. The joke kept circulating anyway, until I eventually noticed how often it was taken literally instead of as a joke — and how much gets lost when a stock phrase becomes the explanation, instead of simply naming the actual fault.
The real turning point was moving to the computer itself: suddenly I could improve processes myself. First with a database that grew, over time, into something fairly comprehensive for the whole print shop; later with small tools built in RealBasic and a bit of SQL. There were plenty of ideas back then — I just lacked the training to build them all. Today, many years later, and with the means now available to me, those old ideas are getting their wings back.
The fact that these tools run in the browser isn't purely a business decision for me. I'm convinced privacy is one of the highest goods there is — for many kinds of work, it's simply a precondition. Even when something looks free, it almost always costs something: your data. That's why I never get to see your files in the first place — I don't have to promise you anything I couldn't technically break anyway. What's free stays free: no existing feature ever moves behind a paywall later.
Write to me if something in your production keeps going wrong. Most of these tools exist because someone did exactly that. When I'm not building one of them, I'm usually out on a mountain bike.
The tools themselves don't need a server. Once you take out a Pro subscription, two things do: signing in (your email address, stored with Supabase in the EU) and payment (handled by Stripe). Both learn that you're a customer — never what you're working on.
Saved profiles and rules live in your browser's storage. Clear your site data and they're gone; switching devices doesn't carry them along. The tools themselves say the same thing, right where you save something.
A second exception: WipePDF recognizes text using OCR. To do that, your browser downloads a pre-built recognition model once, the first time you use it — a few megabytes, identical for every user, with no connection to your document whatsoever. So something only ever comes in, nothing ever goes out of your file. After that first time, the model sits in your browser cache; every run after that needs no connection at all.
A subscription covers a whole tool family, not a single tool. You pay for volume and memory — batch processing, saved presets, larger files. Every core feature stays usable without an account, without a watermark, and without a page limit. Pricing will be set once the first Pro tiers go live.
